Rural Solutions SA consultants were contracted by Woodside Energy Ltd to engage and work with the Traditional Owners of the James Price Point area north of Broome in Western Australia. A proposed Gas Hub development is planned for the area and the Traditional Owner group have expressed an interest in developing their own Ranger Business to manage their country and provide fee for service works to Woodside and other government agencies who are actively involved in managing their country.
Rural Solutions SA engaged with the Traditional owners over two trips to the area and facilitated discussions, assisting with planning and strategic thinking around a future proposal for the Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr people which has enabled them to plan one hundred years into the future. The plan provides scope for land management, planning, enforcement, and research activities on country through fee for service and agreements with government agencies.
