Background
A steering Committee made up of high level executives from the Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation (DWLBC), Department for Environment and Heritage DEH,Department of Further Education, Education, Science and Technology (DFEEST) and Primary Industries and Resources of South Australia (PIRSA) needed support to determine the feasibility of forming a NRM Research Alliance.HandshakeCU2-copy

Our Role
Rural Solutions SA were engaged to initially meet with the stakeholders who included State Government Chief Executives, University Deputy and Pro Vice Chancellors, representatives from the Commonwealth Government, NRM Boards and Directors of Research Institutes to determine their commitment to being part of an alliance.

Once this was established, we then:

  • Investigated a range of alliance models
  • Proposed a suitable governance model
  • Confirmed funding arrangements
  • Conducted a risk assessment
  • Developed an implementation plan

Outcomes
The NRM Research Alliance is in the process of being established formally, with commitment from all stakeholders.

The inaugural meeting of Stakeholders has been organised and ongoing funding arrangements have been negotiated. A report that records the process taken to develop the alliance has been produced.
