Workshops for Irrigators

River Murray irrigators are encouraged to attend a series of DROUGHT MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS to be held along the River Murray in December, to help them manage allocation restrictions during the 2006/07season.


This series of technical workshops arranged by Primary Industries and Resources SA, has support from a wide range of industry associations. The workshops will be held in the Riverland and Lower Murray regions (see below for details).


Presenters at the workshops will include Rural Solutions SA, Rural Financial Counselling Service SA, Fruit Doctors, Yandilla Park, the Riverland Division of General Practice, agronomists and a number of other specialist presenters.

A wide range of technical information about irrigation and business management issues will be discussed including:


• A checklist of technical and agronomic treatments and irrigation strategies to help avoid yield loss
• Water budgeting and trading options to help manage and evaluate the cost of water against the cost of production
• Exceptional Circumstances support
• Financial & social assistance available
• and a general discussion on management options
