Each year Rural Solutions SA is asked to compile a comprehensive report on the total area of revegetation that has occurred within South Australia.

As in previous years, we again need the assistance of nurseries, local councils, community groups or any other organisations that were involved in any form of revegetation activity throughout the year.

Collecting this information on an annual basis allows us to make some general interpretations of the trends and reasons why any changes in trends may be occurring.

This data has been used by both State and Federal government offices and has been extremely valuable, and is recognised as a first step to understanding what is really happening on-ground.  Though the information collected cannot be exact, it is representative.  As the form has not changed over the years the data collected is comparable and provides an understanding of how revegetation is tracking in South Australia.

This report will continue to:

• be used together with the revegetation monitoring reports from 1999 to 2006 in order to compare differences and identify trends.
• highlight the area of revegetation that occurred in 2007 on a state and regional level
• assist Department Water Land and Biodiversity Conservation, NRM Boards and other Government Departments to identify the impact of current investment in on-ground revegetation programs and guide investment for the future.
• determine how long it may take based on current trends to achieve NRM Boards Milestone Action Targets for each of the regions.

If you have completed any revegetation work in 2007 it is essential that you fill in a survey.
