The first ever Consultation and Engagement Protocols book outlining specific cultural information on the four Aboriginal Nations of the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Region is about to be released.
The book identifies appropriate cultural information for Natural Resources Management practioners and people who have an interest in learning more about Aboriginal culture in the region.
It defines the process from an Aboriginal perspective on how to engage Aboriginal people to achieve outcomes on managing natural resources relative to their country.
Four years ago the Aboriginal groups identified the need for informing people about the significance of culture in looking after country.
This book is the result of extensive planning, consultation and research in a collaborative partnership between the four Nations and the project managers Rural Solutions SA.
Project manager Jason Downs said the book provides a foundation for integrated projects supporting Aboriginal cultural values.
“All the necessary information on the four Nations is now available in one concise and endorsed book ready for use,” said Mr Downs.
“All participating members and the AMLR Board should be congratulated for providing a document which will lead the way to effective engagement and integration of managing natural resources.”
Already the process has united the four Nations as a strong group focussed on future management of their country in a partnership with each other and the AMLR Board.
