‘Coping with the Season’ – follow up session on feeding cattle & sheep

This is a follow up session to the workshops that were held in late September, early October.  The format is a more informal question and answer session for those who have questions in regard to feeding sheep and cattle in the current drought conditions, or who want to discuss their experiences with others.  It includes visits to Todd Woodard (cattle) and Charlie Lillecrapp’s (sheep) properties.

Friday 1st December – Struan Research Centre  shearing shed
1.30pm – 5.30pm, followed by BBQ and refreshments.

This session will be presented by Rural Solutions SA’s Brian Ashton, Senior Livestock Consultant and Tim Prance, Senior Pasture Consultant.

Topics will include:

  • Practical confinement feeding for sheep and cattle
  • Feed budgeting
  • Land management
  • Nutrition and rations

Anyone wishing to attend, please contact PIRSA’s Keith Office 80 8755 3166 to register.   Please bring your feedtest results along, and Brian and Tim can help you calculate your rations.
