Do you own a property between about 3 and 20 ha in size? Is the majority of your income from a non-farm source? Would you like access to more practical information on managing your property? If you do read on!
A new project has been funded through the Eyre Peninsula and Northern and Yorke Natural Resource Management Boards that aims to assist owners of small rural landholdings to make confident and knowledgeable decisions regarding land management on their properties. RSSA with support from the NY NRM Board and government agencies will be delivering a professional and informative program of workshops and information sessions on local issues such as:
* Property planning
* Land and water management principles
* Weed identification and control
* Livestock management
* Pest animal control
* Biodiversity
* Fire prevention and preparedness
These workshops will provide land managers with the opportunity to increase their skills and knowledge in best practice land management, and will also provide a good opportunity to interact and share experiences with your neighbours. Individual property visits will be available to focus on the resources within your property and provide specific information on how best to manage these resources as part of the surrounding landscape. For those interested in attending the workshops, grants of $1000 per property are also accessible to implement on-ground actions specific to the issues on your property.
Further detailed information will be sent out in February and workshops are planned for mid March/ April delivery. However, if you would like to express your early interest in this program please contact the project officer, Leah Feuerherdt at the Rural Solutions SA office in Clare on 08 8842 6230, and Watch This Space!
