A free introduction to Prograze will be combined with a Stockwise workshop funded by Primary Industries and Resources SA, Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) at Ruth Robinson's property at Mannanarie on Tuesday December 11th, from 1.30 - 5.30 pm. Followed by a BBQ and refreshments (please bring a chair).
Topics will include
* Stubble and pasture assessment.
* Feed budgeting for the next few months
* Alternatives to confining sheep (cheaper) e.g. getting more out of stubbles
* Comparing alternative feeds
* Is it worth feeding sheep at current grain prices?
* Livestock condition scoring/critical scores, weaner and cross-bred lamb management targets.
* What we learnt from last year
A new Prograze course will commence in February 2008.
Directions to Mannanarie: Mt Lock Road 3 km south of Mannanarie (or 14 km north of Jamestown) - about 2 km along on after a left hand bend.
