Ladies, consider these questions:
Can you afford to lose your home or business?
Do you know how to protect your children, family, pets and precious things in the event of a bushfire?
If you answered “no” to either of these questions, then read on…….
You are being offered free basic bushfire safety skills workshops to assist you in becoming bushfire ready. To enable as many women as possible to attend, we are offering alternative venues during the day, evening and weekends during the last three weeks of school term.
The training will consist of three separate workshop sessions. Two workshop sessions will be of three hours and one session of four hours duration. Daytime workshop sessions during school hours will offer free crèche facilities. A take home kit containing workshop notes will be provided. Lunch is also provided to participants free of charge on the final day (Workshop 3) and for all weekend sessions.
The Country Fire Service and Rural Solutions SA are project partners to develop and deliver the workshops. This has been made possible by funding from Emergency Management Australia’s Local Grants Scheme.
Topics include:
* Preparing yourself emotionally
* Deciding to “stay and defend” or “leave early”
* Preparing a Bushfire Action Plan
* Identifying hazards around the home
* Operating pumps and fire fighting equipment
* Bushfire Behaviour
* Preventing Injury
