Vegetation modification and/or clearance can sometimes be necessary for agricultural or other purposes. The Native Vegetation Council will soon be accrediting a number of consultants across the state, including myself, Kelly Menadue, of Rural Solutions SA (Mt Gambier) to undertake native vegetation clearance applications on a fee for service basis for clients. I am based in Mount Gambier but work across the South East.

I can provide advice and work with landholders to prepare clearance applications involving modification or clearance of native vegetation and the establishment of Significant Environmental Benefits consistent with the Native Vegetation Act 1991 and the policies of the Native Vegetation Council. I can assist landholders with all components of the proposed clearance/modification application and assist landholders with navigating through Government processes.

Rural Solutions can offer an integrated service to cover all aspects of the process. I will be able to respond quickly to landholder enquiries with services including:

• Understanding and explaining relevant legislation and landowner responsibilities in relation to clearance applications
• Explaining the clearance application package and assist in its completion and submission to the Native Vegetation Council
• Undertaking a field based assessment of proposed vegetation clearance and/or modification as soon as possible once a contract has been signed
• Undertaking an initial assessment with the intent of providing advice on which areas are consistent with Native Vegetation Council policies, especially in regard to the Principles of Clearance as contained in the Native Vegetation Act
• Identification of the Significant Environmental Benefit trade-off requirements and the most suitable options available.
• Assistance with compliance with the Native Vegetation Council approval conditions including management plans, revegetation works and other requirements.
