Well the heat is upon us, and many of us will be looking for inside jobs until the worst is over.  Why not drop into your local Rural Solutions SA/ PIRSA office, or browse the PIRSA Online Shop for the latest books on offer.  The Roseworthy Information Centre is now online, and they have an interesting array of books on offer.  I thought I would let you know about a couple. 

Seasfishes Front coverSea Fishes of Southern Australia’ by Barry Hutchins & Roger Swainston is the first complete guide to the fishes of Australia's southern half.  The book covers, over 700 species with 1000 colour illustrations, dangerous fishes and first aid, fish deformities and parasites, fish preservation and photography, Australian record sizes, and edibility.  It is a great resource to keep in the shack, ute or boat. 

 

 

 

 

 

‘Biodiesel’ by American Greg Pahl, describes biodiesel's dramatic growth and its potential tBiodiesel Front Covero help pave the way for an eventual transition from fossil fuels to a wide range of renewable energy sources. It is divided into four parts. Begins with a look at biodiesel basics, travel back into the 19th century to discover the roots of the diesel engine, then fast forward to the 1970's to see how and why biodiesel was developed. Also goes through the production process and examines the many raw materials from which biodiesel can be made and explore the environmental impact. Finally focussing on the modern diesel engine and the many uses of biodiesel fuels.  It also follows the use and production of biodiesel throughout Europe and in the United States and looks ahead at where the industry might be heading in the future.
