Transcript of interview with Wayne Brown and Terry Price

Wayne
Well Terry at the Local Government Association Showcase we will have our expert consultants on hand to demonstrate alot of innovative environmental projects that we have been working on with local councils.  They’re projects which we can extend out to other councils, and so a lot of councils will like to see what is actually around, what can be done. Some of these examples are the contoured or sculptured mowing that we have been working with another company on. That looks at how we actually maintain native grass swords, how those swords of grasses can grow and provide landscape requiring less maintenance, less water, reduces weeds. So that’s a great little package to have a look at.

We’ve also got our roadside management plan programs that we are working on, especially with rural councils. We have a way of capturing that information which  adds to councils’ asset management plans.

We’ll also be having a special look at biodiversity issues and how councils may map their biodiversity within open spaces, and that’s a very new project. We’ve worked with two councils to hone in on that project. It does help councils in terms of how they develop their open spaces.

Terry
Wayne as far as council involvement is concerned for the future, you’re obviously very much looking towards greater involvement with Local Government in South Australia in future years?

Wayne
Yes, absolutely, yes, and again it is about being able to demonstrate to other councils that  we have been working in the Local Government area all around South Australia whether it is from Port Augusta, whether it’s Tea Tree Gully for example, or Port Adelaide-Enfield Council. Lots of urban and rural councils we work with and again when we talk to them and look at their issues, they can be as far away as pristine environments right the way through to restoring environs. We are very good at doing that - landfills for example.

It’s really about sharing information, so we come with innovative approaches and also the sharing of information across council boundaries.
