Terry
Wayne can you tell me more about land restoration with native grasses today?
Wayne
Yeah sure Terry, look native grasses have a long history, of course they’ve been around before the trees and the shrubs basically in Australia and other countries around the world. And what we are trying to do is actually have people appreciate their values they have a value in terms of agriculture, sheep and cattle can eat them and graze on them but there is also the opportunity to use them in reducing water use, to use them in landscaping, to use them on golf courses, to look at them in a holistic sense. They even have medicinal properties and food properties, they’ll clean water or help you assist you to clean water so in reality the use of native grasses is an endless, endless process that we can think about and use innovation to work with the species.

Have the applications surprised even you that works and develops them?
Wayne
Oh look I think so I think there have been trials before and people have tried to work with the species. I have been working with them now about 12, nearly 15 years I guess. And yes you’re right the application is unbelievable, it’s about understanding the species, it’s about understanding their growth habits, it’s about understanding the climate they need to grow in. They are a complex range of species but they can add really, really great value to any project.
