Very important for us to be able to engage with communities. By engaging with them we’re actually sharing our knowledge, our understanding of what the project will entail and by talking to and being transparent about the purpose of what we’re doing, then aids the community to make decisions about where they might like to take the project and how they’ll be involved in the project and that in itself builds their capacity to work within that project and or adjust if necessary to the project.

Have you found in your work rural communities in South Australia that engagement has been imperative in your work?
Karen
Absolutely, without the engagement you’re going to have difficulties in managing a project let alone asking or getting people to come with you on that and work through the adjustment process for a positive outcome.
