The SMARTtrain Chemical Accreditation Program is a comprehensive approach to chemical training for the safe and effective use of agricultural chemicals.

With SMARTtrain Chemical Application accreditation you can legally purchase Schedule 7 pesticides as prescribed by the Controlled Substances (Poisons) Regulations 1996.

SMARTtrain chemical Application accreditation is recognised by The Agricultural and Veterinary Products (Control of Use) Regulations 2004, which is administered by Primary Industries and Resources South Australia (PIRSA)

Training is provided at operator level for the application of chemicals using powered equipment.  The course is at AQF Level 3.  Usually a two-day course (flexibility can be provided upon RTO approval)

Who should do this course?  A person that applies chemicals with powered equipment

It meets all training requirements for AQF 2 plus:

  • Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) training requirements for using restricted chemicals such as Endosulfan
  • Needs of industry QA programs such as Cattlecare, Freshcare, and Flockcare

Learn how to:

  • Interpret label and MSDS information
  • Calibrate hand-held and powered application equipment
  • Complete application records
  • Keep hazardous substances and dangerous goods registers
  • Complete and record an environmental risk assessment
  • Complete and record and OHS risk assessment
