Benefits of Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training

Aboriginal Cultural Awareness training can help you to:

  • Gain an understanding of the history of Aboriginal people in South Australia and the issues they face
  • Develop your sensitivity to cultural differences to better organise meetings and engage key Aboriginal decision-makers
  • Begin to appreciate the cultural diversity of Aboriginal Australians
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and effective service delivery
  • Learn from the experiences of others and avoid costly mistakes
  • Become motivated to build relationships towards an integrated South Australia.

It is about becoming aware of cultural differences that exist, and not about becoming an expert. It’s about recognising and appreciating differences and having an understanding of these and accepting them.

Committed to Growing Relationships

Aboriginal people have a long association with the land and coastal areas of this country; this relationship is still as strong today as it was hundreds of years ago.

Often complex social and cultural relationships are unknown, confused or misinterpreted on both sides of the cultural divide. The need to create a greater understanding is fundamental in the ongoing movement towards integration and strong, collaborative relationships.

Our Aboriginal Cultural Awareness program aims to build bridges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, breaking down barriers based on myths and misunderstandings surrounding cultural differences. Designed by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people together the program is for the sole benefit of creating greater Cultural Awareness and can be tailored specifically to your needs.

Our aim is to leave participants with a positive and long lasting awareness of these issues. The experience focuses on participatory interactions in a relaxed and comfortable learning environment; respectful and individuals and Aboriginal culture.
